About Sharon

Sharon Colchamiro is the firm’s founder. Sharon focuses her practice on entertainment, technology and business law, with additional specializations in alternative dispute resolution and government contracting.  She represents creative artists in all areas of entertainment and media, as well as entrepreneurs, record labels, new businesses, production companies, publishers, agents, new businesses, government contractors and subcontractors, investors in the arts and other creative professionals.

Sharon focuses her practice on helping people and companies structure and negotiate the agreements that support and protect their rights while at all times maximizing profit.  Her work regularly involves drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, and she also advises companies on intellectual property protection and regulatory compliance, including data privacy policies. In addition, Sharon acts as outside counsel for companies that need ongoing transactional support without the overhead costs of a large law firm. Sharon assists with everything from day-to-day contract review to multi-party business relationships. Much of her work centers on the intersection of business, technology and intellectual property.

Sharon received a B.A. from New York University, double-majoring in Philosophy and Art History, and a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.  While there she published a Note in the Hofstra Property Law Journal entitled “To Clear or Not To Clear: Licensing Digital Samples” and was awarded the ASCAP Nathan Burkan prize.  She began her legal career in New York City before launching her own practice in 1999. Working for herself gave Sharon the flexibility to practice law while raising her children.  Outside of work, Sharon enjoys spending time with family and friends.  She also creates cocktail how-to videos for her YouTube channel and dances and volunteers for the NYC Halloween Parade, the NYC Dance Parade and the NYC Pride March.

Sharon believes the experience of working with a lawyer should be collaborative, and that each client deserves to be heard. She welcomes new conversations and is always happy to connect.  She sees herself as a facilitator: she works to make her clients’ lives and businesses more profitable and less stressful.

She is licensed in the states of New York and New Jersey, as well as the federal courts in the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of New York, and is a certified FINRA Dispute Resolution Arbitrator.
